Arsenal have been without an English league title for 16 years, but the last time they won the trophy was an unforgettable victory for Arsene Wenger’s ‘Invisibles’.
They won the silverware for the competition, known as the Premiership on this day in 2004, in a 2-2 draw against North London rivals Tottenham.
On the same day, Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe in a one-day cricket clash in Harare and thrashed the home team by 35 runs – the lowest innings in an ODI.
In 2012, Bayern Munich denied Real Madrid a place in the Champions League final when they beat Los Blancos, whose star names fell in a dramatic penalty shootout.
And 12 months ago, Killer Murray chose American football before baseball when it was first drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.
Here we look back at the most memorable moments in the world of sports on April 25th.
2004 – Wenger surprised by the title Toast at White Heart Lane
Alan Shearer’s win for Newcastle United against high-flying Chelsea the day before meant Arsenal had a chance to win the Premier League title at Tottenham’s White Heart Lane home.
Unbeaten in the league throughout the season, Wenger did not have a chance to pass the chance and went 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Patrick Vieira and Robert Pierce.
Jamie Redknop pulled back and Robbie Kane fired a late penalty equalizer for short spurs, but Arsenal needed just one point, so a 2-2 draw was enough to celebrate among the spectators.

2004 – Horror Horror Show
Zimbabwe lost the ODI series 5-0 and suffered a huge back-to-back defeat in a 2-0 Test defeat against Sri Lanka – and this surrender in the third ODI was probably the worst result.
Dion Ibrahim top-scored for Zimbabwe with runs as the hosts were bowled out for 35 in 16 overs, with Chaminda Vass taking the lead 4-11 for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka could not lose by 10 wickets when Russell Arnold fell cheaply, but they won by nine wickets 3-0 in the series.
Zimbabwe was greatly weakened as their established players went on strike in protest of political interference, a situation of concern.
2012 – Penalties for Ronaldo and Ramos
With a 2-1 semi-final lead from their home leg, Bayern still saw the final slip of the Champions League when Cristiano Ronaldo beat Madrid 2-0 in 15 minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real winger Arjen Robben restored the Germans’ hopes with a penalty.
From time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time, from time to time.
The usually reliable Ronaldo and Kaka saw their kicks saved by Manuel Neuer and Sergio Ramos fired over the bar, allowing Bastian Schweinsteiger to convert the win into a penalty.
Jose Mourinho’s Madrid still won La Liga that season, the Champions League final near Bayern Challenge – on penalties – ended in a draw and Borussia Dortmund saw a double at home.
2 – Cristiano Ronaldo misses two penalties in tonight’s Champions League shootout against Chelsea at 08 and Bayern. Nerves.

2019 – The Cardinals pick Murray with the first pick
Kyler Murray was the ninth overall pick of the MLB draft in June, 2018, playing the game of his choice. But his uninterrupted success with the Oklahoma Sunners in college football was what made Murray greedy for NFL teams as well and he soon gave up the prospect of a near baseball career.
Quarterback, he was drafted first overall by the Cardinals and won the league offensive Rookie of the Year award in his first NFL season.
He has outperformed all first-year players with 349 compliments – third by one camouflage in NFL history – and 3,722 passing yards.
