The DFB-Pokal final has been postponed indefinitely due to a coronavirus epidemic.

The game was officially postponed to Friday, May 23 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Bayer Leverkusen will face hosts Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals of Bayern Munich and FC Saarbrবcken.

In a statement, Fritz Keller, president of the German Football Association (DFB), said: “The DFB-Pokal final, in particular, as the glamorous final and highlight of each season, survives the unique atmosphere of the stadium and the flair of Berlin and both the size determined by the fans.

“Unfortunately this special game is also expected to be held in the stadium without spectators, although of course we must first wait for the general official decision and requirements.”

The DFB said it still aims to finish the season by June 30.

The Bundesliga is set to resume in Germany on May 9, with more than 5,700 deaths due to Kovid-19.
