Kieran Mbappe joined Real Madrid “just a question of time,” according to Jerome Rathen, who claimed that the star of the Palace St Germain became the Laliga Giants before the Cornavirus pandemic.
Mbappe has been linked to the blockbuster movement in Madrid, where head coach Zinedine Zidane has kept no secret of his admiration for France’s international forward.
The 20-year-old, who replaced Monaco in a preliminary loan deal for French rival PSG on May 27, is still not close to his future commitment to the League-1 champions despite the best efforts of the Mbappe club.
Former PSG midfielder Rathen says that Mbappi nearly signed for Madrid ahead of the Covid I-4 crisis – which has claimed more than 1,700 lives worldwide – destroying sports and society.
“I know from club sources that an agreement to move Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid was almost over,” Rathen told Radio Monticello, who won two titles at PSG in six years.
“But with what is going on, I am certain that Mbappe’s arrival in Real Madrid will be postponed.”
Rothen added: “There is no way to extend his contract with Mbappe PSG.
“A deal between them will be suspended because PSG has agreed to leave him this summer. In my opinion, it’s just a question of time.”
Cornwallis scored 18 and 30 goals in the league in all competitions for PSG in 2019-2 before closing out Ligo 1 and around the world.
