Pranks turned around in every corner but Thomas Doll Lazio loved his time with Paul Gascoigne.
Gascoigne switched from Tottenham Hotspur to the Roman club in 1999, following his stellar performance that inspired England’s run in the 1990 World Cup semi-finals and his star is still high in Italy.
However, during the 1991 FA Cup Final, he underwent a year of rehabilitation due to a knee ligament injury, and his fitness problems persisted during Gasquin’s stay in the Italian capital, ending in 1995 when he joined the Rangers.
The German international played for Lazio from 1991 to 1994 and has memories of his fellow midfielder – popular in the dressing room while on the terrace.
“Paul was a true team player and a really good boy who felt very comfortable with himself because of his humor and because of the class,” Stats told the performer.
Doug explained to himself that compatriots Carl-Heinz Riedel, Netherlands midfielder Aaron Winter and Gosquin Lazio had exploded in the vicinity as foreign troops, but no one in the dressing room was safe from the English trademark magic.
“Paul was funny to everyone,” he recalled. “For example, he had a lot of stories about him tying players’ shoes together or just crashing into interviews while wearing his underwear and things like that.”

The doll also paints a picture of a selfless person who is much loved by fans at retirement.
He added, “He was very kind to the young players.”
“When he was in England, he would occasionally bring back CD players and make grants for young players, or he would pick them up if they didn’t have a car at the time.
“He was a completely crazy guy, but the whole team liked him a lot.”
