Hector Ballerin is grateful to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, who embraced role model Mantel himself when they were Gonzalez teammates.
Despite being only 25 years old, Ballarin is already one of the most experienced players in the Arsenal squad and one of their longest serving.
The Spaniard arrived at Arsenal from Barcelona in 2011 and has been around the senior squad since 2013, reflecting his growing influence and responsibilities as co-captain in October each year.
Ballarin is famous for his passion for fashion and sometimes shy to express his side, even playing in an era when footballers are often sharply criticized for their social media activity or can be thought to hang a stylish lifestyle.
Ballarin, however, thinks young players should be allowed to be who they are and is optimistic that he and Arsenal’s next generation will be influenced by advice and other nudity, just as Arteta did for him.

“I think it’s really important for young players to support who they may be. When you ask senior players why you’re doing something or wearing something, it’s so important that the next generation is true to them,” he told Football London. “I am just happy to be able to help them do this.
“I was lucky to have my family around me, my best friend, someone I knew from the beginning, he was the one who started me looking at investing and things.
“In terms of football, Mikel Arteta used to give me financial advice and even life advice when he was at Arsenal as a player.
“Even then he was giving back leadership qualities then it makes him a director.
“But I feel it, so lucky that everyone around me knew when I could stop doing certain things and be able to have a tough conversation with me.
“If you don’t have people who can be honest with you, you can never develop as a person. I was very lucky with the people around me and looking for young players means the same to me in the world.”
