Real Betis and the former Everton goalkeeper have announced that Joel Robles has tested positive for the coronavirus but is not feeling any symptoms.
The 29-year-old Spaniard confirmed the results in a video posted on Instagram, where he was in good health and wearing a Betis shirt.
La Liga clubs are in the process of mass testing players as they prepare for the restoration of the league in June.
Officials on Sunday said five players from unspecified clubs across Spain’s top two divisions have tested positive for the virus and they have been isolated.
Rubel said in his video message: “Hello everyone, I wanted to confirm my positive test for coronavirus.”
He announced last week that his wife was pregnant with the couple’s second child and Robes added on Sunday: “We are very well, my wife is pregnant, the little girl is perfect.
“I am asymptomatic and have not had any symptoms or discomfort in the last few weeks.
“I will keep training at home under the direction of medical services.
“I want to tell you to be careful. I am responsible, I have protected myself and I have the virus and think of those whom you nurture and those who are in the forefront to ensure the safety of all. Embrace all, not relax.”
