Andrea Pirlo talk-down Sandro Tonali said the same with him, saying the Brasia midfielder was “much more complete”.
Tonali has joined giants Juventus and Inter in Serie A after starring Brasia, who set foot in Italy last year.
The 20-year-old has been compared to the great Italian Pirlo, but the former Juventus and Milan star believes Tonali could be better.
During a live Instagram chat on Monday, he told Niccolo de Devitis, “It has been said that he could be my successor, but I don’t see much in common.”
“He’s a different kind of player. He’s much more complete both on the defensive stage and when he’s set up. He’s a mix of my features and the other players.
“He’s the most promising midfielder. He’s definitely going to be a great player.”
Tonali’s future has been discussed in the Serie A season, which has been postponed since March due to a coronavirus epidemic.
Pirlo hopes the campaign can end, with Juve leading by one point when Lazio was given a break.
“Health comes first, then even better if you can finish the championship,” he said.
“It will not be an easy choice. We hope it will happen. Football makes a lot of people work, maximum security must be guaranteed.
“If someone is infected, everything must be blocked again.”
The death toll in Italy has surpassed 30,700, with more than 286,000 people dying from the coronavirus worldwide.
